While most pirates in the 21st century were playing black or dance music, Explosion brought about a return to a more mainstream pop station.
They were heard mostly at weekends and Bank Holidays on a variety of frequencies including 99.6, 95 and 103.5.
Some of the Explosion crew were later involved in Fusion FM and the return of Power House Radio.
